Award-winning Interior Designer, Tracey Overbeck Stead provides Martha’s Vineyard based designs with a global vision.
Classically trained, she earned a B. S. in Interior Design from the University of Texas School of Architecture. Upon graduating, Tracey designed her way into the American Institute of Architects (AIA) homes tour with one of her very first projects. This impressive start led to a position with the prestigious 100 year-old firm, Page Southerland Page. While at PSP, she worked on such projects as Austin Bergstrom International Airport, CarrAmerica Tower, the award winning Terrace office buildings designed by renowned architect Lawrence Speck, and the University of Texas psychology building designed by internationally award-winning architects Cesar Pelli & Associates.
Always driven by an entrepreneurial spark, Tracey ventured into business on her own – founding Tracey Overbeck Stead Interior Design in 1996. Over the next 27 years, Tracey created award-winning interiors with a central Texas focus for both commercial and residential clients around the globe. In 2018, she decided she could not live without her love of sailing so she relocated to the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts - continuing her interior design craft.
Tracey’s large-scale commercial design experience and years of high-end residential experience has afforded her the knowledge and tools of working on projects as a full-service interior designer. She understands all the nuances of working as part of a team and what it takes to complete projects with the client’s best interest in mind while being passionate about the process as a team member. Through travel, Tracey prides herself with her continued dedication of staying au currant with the industry’s latest trends and offerings.
Tracey’s experience spans from hot-spot restaurants, art galleries, hotels, multi-family projects, lofts, with a special focus on custom residential interiors.
Tracey’s Approach to design is founded on strong client relationships allowing her to guide the client and help them articulate their own style. Through this process she draws from her broad background both in design and life experiences. Reflecting on her first degree in Early Childhood Education, including 7 years of teaching experience, Tracey prides herself with a strong sensitivity to client needs.
